Dr. Spoonamore completed her residency in general psychiatry at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City where she was the senior resident on the inpatient psychiatric unit and honored with the ambassador of patient care and satisfaction award. Dr. Spoonamore was most recently an Attending Psychiatrist at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, CT where she specialized in the treatment of co-occurring disorders, including depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, ADHD, and addictive disorders. Dr. Spoonamore graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans with a bachelor's of science. She completed her medical degree from the University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten that included clinical clerkships at the University of Kentucky, Tulane University School of Medicine, and Waterford Regional Hospital in Ireland. After completing her medical school training in Europe, she entered the transitional residency program at Tulane University School of Medicine, department of Family and Community Medicine Services.

Dr. Spoonamore is currently in private practice and was recently certified by ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) as signifying excellence in the practice of Addiction Medicine by meeting vigorous standards through intensive study, assessment, and evaluation. She is certified to use Buprenorphine (Suboxone) for the treatment of opioid detoxification and maintenance. She is trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Treatments consist of: Neuropsychopharmacology, certification in Buprenorphine (Suboxone), Naltrexone maintenance therapy and Psychotherapy.
